Eight Whitburn players took a break from their preparation for the British Open last weekend with a performance of a different type.

Cornet players Chris Bradley and Tom Conibere ran in the half marathon section of the Great Scottish Run, which was held in Glasgow last Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the 10k category held on the same day, Rhona Barr, Jim Chamberlain, Mel Clarke, Anne Crookston, Robert Fraser and Andy Robson all put on their running shoes.

There was no report on how long it took the players to get their breath back for the next rehearsal...
