The Uppermill Band has recently had cause for a double celebration with the opening of their new bandroom combined with a 30th Anniversary celebration evening.
Teamed up
The band have teamed up with Saddleworth Cricket, Bowling and Tennis Club, to refurbish the old Tennis Pavilion, transforming it into a modern, bright and acoustically sound bandroom.
Band Members have undertaken the massive task of transforming what had become an overspill storage space for the cricket groundsman and after 18 months of hard work the facility is now fully equipped and up and running.
The bandroom now boasts a fully equipped music library, wardrobe and storage space together with brand new toilet facilities.

Celebration
As Uppermill Band was formed in 1979, this was also the 30th Anniversary.
In attendance were Richard Evans and Peter Bates, Chairman of the North West Regional Brass Band Association. Richard cut the ribbon to declare the bandroom open and guests were invited to view the display of trophies, photographs and memorabilia covering the past 30 years.
Promotion
During the evening, Band Secretary Denise Gillespie announced that the band has now been promoted to the 2nd Section of the North West Counties Brass Band Association, following promotion to 3rd Section in the National grading earlier in the year, and rising to 165 in the 4BR/World of Brass rankings.
