Kapitol Media acquires Brass Band World magazine.

mORRIS

Kapitol Media Ltd., owned by Philip Morris and Nicola Bland, has announced the acquisition of Brass Band World, the UK’s leading international monthly brass magazine, from Impromptu Publishing Ltd. of Manchester, with immediate effect.

Launch

Launched in February 1991, Brass Band World was the first international monthly colour magazine for the brass band community and has been published continuously ever since.

Managing Director of Impromptu Publishing, Marcus Netherwood, commented to 4BR: "Impromptu Publishing took up the mantle as publisher of Brass Band World from Bob Mulholland in 2005.

"Since then, the magazine has explored all matters of interest to the brass community It continues to be a platform of independent reporting, reflecting the views and aspirations of not just the brass band community in the UK, but also internationally."

We believe that there is a definite niche in the brass band market for a prestigious monthly magazinePhilip Morris

Enjoyed

He concluded: "We hope that our readers have enjoyed BBW during our time as publishers and I would like to thank all our readers, contributors, editors and advertisers, without whose support we would not have achieved the success we have today."

Experience

Speaking on behalf of Kapitol Media Ltd., Philip Morris told 4BR: "As most people know, Kapitol Media has already accrued substantial experience in brass band publishing, having owned British Bandsman between 2000 and 2004.

"We believe that there is a definite niche in the brass band market for a prestigious monthly magazine."

High values

He added: "Kapitol Media will continue to publish Brass Band World magazine with the same high editorial and design values, as well as employ the consistent devotion to brass band music-making around the world. Kapitol intends to build on that successful track-record."

At our heart

Philip concluded: "We are very excited about the prospect of owning this particular magazine in a market in which we have shown continuous commitment during the past decade, particularly through our support of the National Championships of Great Britain. The brass band movement is very much at the heart of our companies."

The first edition of Brass Band World under the new ownership of Kapitol Media Ltd. will be published in September.
