Band help bless banner

Westoe Brass to help remember miners at Durham Gala.

This year's Durham Miners Gala will be extra special for Westoe Brass Band, in partnership with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust.

New banner

The band will be parading a new banner which has been commissioned for the occasion by ex-miners at the former Westoe Colliery, and which will also be taken to Durham Cathedral to be blessed, as part of the annual service which is held every year to commemorate the mining industry in the county.

For the band, the date can’t come around soon enough.

The Durham Miners Gala is one of the most important days in our calendar, and is an opportunity to pay tribute to our heritageSteven Kyle
