Results: Morley March & Hymn Contest

There was a fantastic turn out at Morley on the weekend with victory going to Marsden.

A fantastic afternoon was had in Morley West Yorkshire on the weekend for the third Morley March and Hymn Tune contest.

Defending Champions Marsden were back, not only to defend their title but to go for a hatrick of wins — which they achieved in some style, although they were pushed all the way by dark horses Silk Brass.

The adjudicators Chris Wormald & Barry Thompson awarded the main prizes as follows:

3. Meltham & Meltham Mills

Best 1st Section Band: Drighlington
Best 2nd Section Band: Grange Moor
Best 3rd Section Band: Garforth Brass
Best 4th Section Band: Tingley Brass
Best Youth Band: Shirland Training

Best Contest March: Marsden Silver Prize
Best Hymn: Silk Brass
Best Footmarch: Marsden Silver Prize
Best Deportment: Meltham & Meltham Mills
Best Deoprtment (Youth): Shirland Training

The contest next year will be held on 20th June 2010.
