Aveley out of English Nationals

Blow to English Nationals as Aveley & Newham drop out of Preston contest.

English National

The British Federation of Brass Bands has reported that the Aveley & Newham Band has withdrawn from the English National contest.

e-mail

The BFBB was informed by email on Saturday afternoon and stated that they were disappointed with Aveley & Newham’s withdrawal, particularly as they were invited to participate in place of Rothwell Band a few weeks ago.

We have decided to adjust the timings slightly on the day and the contest will now start at 10.45amBFBB

Unprecedented

A spokesman for the BFBB said: "It is unprecedented in a major contest to have three bands withdraw from the event. However, we still have 14 of England’s finest bands in attendance and we look forward to a good day’s banding."

Adjustments

They added: "We have decided to adjust the timings slightly on the day and the contest will now start at 10.45am. There are 6 bands in the first part of the draw which is anticipated to finish at approximately 1.00pm. There will be a one hour break for lunch and bands 7 to 14 will commence playing at 2.00pm."

Results and presentations will be due at approximately 5.30pm.

Tickets

Tickets for the Championship are available from Preston Guild Hall Box Office, Tel: 01772 258858.
