4BR Editor Iwan Fox recently met up with trumpet star Matilda Lloyd at the Royal Academy of Music in London as she looked forward to the release of her debut CD 'Direct Message' on 5th October.
Featuring works that straddle the 20th and 21st century and including three world premiere recordings, it represents an important step in her burgeoning solo career.
She talks about her desire to expand the trumpet repertoire, explains more about some of the works featured on the Orchid Classics release and reveals more about the performance opportunities that have come her way since winning the BBC Young Brass Award and the BBC Young Musician of the Year Brass Final in 2014.
The free launch concert will take place at the David Josefowitz Hall at the Royal Academy of Music today (24th September) at 5.30pm.
