Britain's longest-established professional symphony orchestra, th Hallè, are set to bring music to life in schools and community venues throughout the Bolsover District.
Large scale
Founded in 1858, the Hallè Orchestra will be headlining the Clowne community art project. The orchestra will be performing a residency programme in sheltered housing and the villages’ three schools over the next two years, culminating in a large scale performance in 2011 to launch the new school.

Major coupe
Carole Crompton, Arts Development Officer for Bolsover District told 4BR: "Not only is this a major coupe for us, but it is also a first for the orchestra to perform in a rural community as they normally work in inner city areas.
"Everyone who will be involved in the project will receive some of the best advice and tuition the world of music can offer and it promises to be a fantastic scheme and one that we are all looking forward to."
Main themes
The project will consist of two main themes: the production of a film which will be created by the youngsters from the villages’ schools and the composition of backing music for the film’s production.
Fun
Carole added: "The project will not only bring an element of fun with it, but will also highlight the importance of art, especially music and how we use it as part of our everyday lives. Participants will be able to see their work come to life and used in a live project that will form part of the villages’ history."
