Withington to lead Brighouse

Allan Withington to lead Brighouse & Rastrick at English National.

Brighouse and Rastrick has informed 4BR that they will be led by former Professional Conductor Allan Withington in their assault on the English National title on June 27th.

Allan joins up with the band following the withdrawal of Grimethorpe Colliery from the contest.

Commitment

Brighouse have recently teamed up with their new Professional Conductor, David King but Professor King has a longstanding commitment in Australia on the day of the contest.

Allan’s debut at this contest was in 2007 when he led Grimethorpe to victory — something he repeated in 2008. Brighouse will be hoping for a hat trick this time around then4BR

First time back

This will be the first time Allan has conducted the band since the Yorkshire Area contest in 2002.

Between 1992 and 2002 Allan's contest victories with B&R included the Masters title on three occasions (1993, 1998 and 2001), a European title in 1998 and National Finals victories in 1997 and 1998.

Record

In what is the fourth year of the English National contest, Brighouse will be hoping to improve on previous results, which include a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

Bilton Silver Rugby Band

November 22 • Bilton Silver (Rugby) requires a cornet player to join our Championship Section band (Position negotiable). Under MD Brad Turnbull we have a varied programme of events. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Friday at 7-45pm in our own purpose built bandroom.


Besses o'th' Barn Band

November 21 • Under the direction of David W Ashworth, we are making every effort to complete the rebuild of this very famous brass band. We require one kit and one tuned percussionists plus one Back Row Cornet to complete our line up for the North West Area Contest.
