Withington to lead Brighouse

Allan Withington to lead Brighouse & Rastrick at English National.

Withington

Brighouse and Rastrick has informed 4BR that they will be led by former Professional Conductor Allan Withington in their assault on the English National title on June 27th.

Allan joins up with the band following the withdrawal of Grimethorpe Colliery from the contest.

Commitment

Brighouse have recently teamed up with their new Professional Conductor, David King but Professor King has a longstanding commitment in Australia on the day of the contest.

Allan’s debut at this contest was in 2007 when he led Grimethorpe to victory — something he repeated in 2008. Brighouse will be hoping for a hat trick this time around then4BR

First time back

This will be the first time Allan has conducted the band since the Yorkshire Area contest in 2002.

Between 1992 and 2002 Allan's contest victories with B&R included the Masters title on three occasions (1993, 1998 and 2001), a European title in 1998 and National Finals victories in 1997 and 1998.

Record

In what is the fourth year of the English National contest, Brighouse will be hoping to improve on previous results, which include a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

Allan’s debut at this contest was in 2007 when he led Grimethorpe to victory — something he repeated in 2008. Brighouse will be hoping for a hat trick this time around then.
