Row, row, row your boat...

Elland Silver will be taking to the high seas (of sorts) to raise funds for a new bandroom.

Members of Elland Silver Band will take part in a 21 mile sponsored row covering the length of Lake Windermere on Sunday 28th June.

21 mile

Organised by the bands solo trombone player, Richard Knight, twelve members of the band will row a distance of 21 miles from Ambleside to Lakeside and back again to raise money towards the bands new Bandroom appeal.

Three teams

Three teams will complete the trip, including an all female team 'The Daring Damsels', led by soprano cornet player, Helen Robinson.

Richard’s team, 'The Elland Lakers' are aiming to complete the row in 5 hours. "It’s not for the faint hearted, but with a minimum level of fitness, its possible," explained Richard to 4BR.

Sponsors

Richard is aiming to raise at least £1,000 in sponsorship towards the bands £300,000 target.

Band Supplies of Leeds, have generously offered to sponsor a boat, but are looking for further sponsors for the other two boats.

Anyone interested in sponsoring either a rower or a boat, can contact band secretary Kathleen Harrison on 01484 717126.
