Carmen get it for Torbay

Torbay Brass will soon be treading the boards with that well known cigar girl...

Torbay Brass Band has a busy and very eclectic weekend of playing ahead.

Powerboat

On Saturday, the band will be playing at the opening ceremony of the national powerboat racing weekend in Torbay, before they shoot off themselves to peform at the wedding of Eb Bass player Stephen France and fiancée Rachel.

After that a few of the players will tread the boards of the Princess Theatre, Torquay when they participate in the opera 'Carmen'.

Fortunately we do not have to sing. We do have a few ‘singers’ in the band, but they usually need some liquid courage to encourage them. Anyway karaoke is more their style!Torbay Brass

Carmen

Chairman David Wilkinson told 4BR: "We have a busy time ahead but we are looking forward to it, especially Stephen’s wedding which promises to be a great day. The offer to participate in 'Carmen' came out of the blue and is an attempt by the producer to involve local musicians especially brass players."

Liquid courage

David added: "Fortunately we do not have to sing. We do have a few ‘singers’ in the band, but they usually need some liquid courage to encourage them. Anyway karaoke is more their style!"
