Top Norwegian band confirm appointment of new resident conductor to assist Allan Withington.

Jacob Wilhelm Larsen has been appointed new resident conductor with Stavanger Brass Band.

Danish move

Larsen hails from Denmark, and has been conducting Ã…rhus Brass Band since 2005. He will now move to Stavanger and work with bands in the Stavanger-region, starting in August.

Thrilled

He told 4BR: "I am so thrilled to get this fantastic job and the opportunity to work along side one of the best bands in the world. It is something I have dreamed of for many years and now it is a reallity, and I can't wait to get started."

Looking forward

Torgrim Olsen, Chairman of Stavanger Brass Band added: "Jacob is an experienced conductor that brings a lot of musical input to the band and we look forward to work with him."

Withington confirmation

It has also been confirmed that the band has renewed the contract with Allan Withington as the bands chief conductor.

"We are very satisfied that Allan, being one of the leading conductors in the world, will continue his engagement in Stavanger," Torgrim added.
