Outstanding Boobs

The fantastic girls of Boobs & Brass are in line for a possible national award for their superb work for the Cancer Charity.

Boobs

Boobs & Brass, the all female brass band have been nomitated for 'The Outstanding Achievement Award' by the Breast Cancer Campaign for the fundraising they have done for the charity since their formation in 2006.

Lords

Each year the Campaign hold a reception at the House of Lords and invite fundraisers, research scientists and trustees of the charity to an evening where six awards are presented.

To date, Boobs & Brass have raised £28,000 for charity — the main benefactors being Breast Cancer Campaign and the Ophthalmic Department of Kettering General Hospital.

Adoption

This year the Campaign gave the band the opportunity to adopt a research project and they selected one which is being undertaken at the University of Leicester which aims to determine the effects of chemotherapy on the hearts of breast cancer patients.

Budget

The budget for this project for 2009 was £15,000, and the girls asked if they could fund the whole amount. They have already donated over £13,000 and are certain that the balance will be raised by the August deadline.

The band will be represented at the House of Lords on 7th May and will then learn whether they have won the award.
