Charley Brighton gives his Spring Recital at St. Mary’s Slough this weekend with two premiers of new works for baritone & euphonium.
New works
'Centurion' is a 3 movement work written for Charley (and accompanist Malcolm Stowell) following on from the success of ‘Masquerade’ in 2008 by the same composer.
He will also premiere a new duet for euphonium & baritone with Susan Vel, 'The Mill Pond' by Terry Treherne, composed as an engagement gift to celebrate their wedding in September, later this year.
For his 34th recital in Slough, he has also unearthed a little known 'Scherzo for Bassoon' by the Russian composer Miroshnikov4BR
Scherzo
For his 34th recital in Slough, he has also unearthed a little known 'Scherzo for Bassoon' by the Russian composer Miroshnikov and will feature his own arrangement of the slow movement from the Saint-Seans 'Sonata for Oboe'.
Vintage Euphoniums dating back to 1914 will be used in the recital, there will also be a selection on display too dating back to 1891.
The recital is free and starts at 12 noon.
