The Cobham Band under David Ruel recently enjoyed their contesting trip in the Third Section of the Southern Counties Amateur Bands Association (SCABA) Spring Contest at Hove.

Impressed

They certainly impressed adjudicator adjudicator Colin Hardy, with their march, 'The Elephant' followed by the test piece, 'Three Songs Without Words' — so much so that they walked away with first prize.

Award

The band also won the newly created ‘Best Solo Cornet Section’ award whilst David Ruel also took the ‘Best Conductor’ trophy.
