A decade of Camborne Youth

10 years of great music making in Camborne is to be celebrated with a CD launch.

Camborne

The multi award winning Camborne Youth Band is to celebrate 10 years of music making with the release of a celebratory CD entitled, '10 Years On'.

Under the musical direction of Alan Pope, the band has won the National Youth Championship for five consecutive years.

Just seven to start

Starting with just seven players, such was the success of setting up the band that after only four short rehearsals all of the 44 instruments belonging to the band were taken up.

Within five years, they had progressed from winning County Junior Championships to taking the title of National Community Champions of Great Britain.

CD release

To mark the achievement, the band has recorded the CD to celebrate its favourite pieces and showcase the excellent solo playing that the band has become renowned for.

MD, Alan Pope told 4BR: "The youth organisation at Camborne prides itself on its professionalism but at the same time encourages a sense of belonging, which is reflected in the number of original players still being with the Band today."
