Dobcross Youth Band under their conductor Brian Lamb will be determined to make their musical mark at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool next weekend.

Jenny Wood from the band told 4BR: "Whether to enter the North West Area Championships this year was a big decision for the Youth Band. With an average age of 14 years, including three cornet players still at Junior School, contesting will be a first time experience for most of the band."

The band will be playing in the Third Section on the Sunday and are looking forward to the experience.

Jenny added: "It might have been felt that the challenges of the Third Section test piece would be one step too far, but the band are working hard and looking forward to the occasion.
