Cwmaman bolster their ranks

Welsh contenders add to the ranks ahead of their Swansea challenge.

Cwmaman

Cwmaman Institute Silver Band has welcomed a number of new players to its ranks as it continues its preparations for the forthcoming regional contest.

Adding strength

Nils Richards joins on solo trombone after a spell at Tongwynlais with Steven Stonelake returning to the solo baritone seat.

Meanwhile, Ron Andrews has joined on 2nd euphonium with Sarah Jackson and Ceri John taking over the percussion section. Sian Shapland returns after many years on percussion to back row cornet with Tessa Malpas moving to play Repiano.

The band is also pleased to welcome Gareth Jones who will join on 2nd Trombone after the Porthcawl contest.

We’re starting 2009 on a stable foundation which enables the conducting duo of Craig Roberts and Graham O’Connor to push the band forwardCwmaman Band

Bolster the ranks

Secretary Martin Wait told 4BR: "Securing a number of new signings has enabled us to not only bolster our ranks ahead of the Area contest but has also enabled us to make some internal moves to further strengthen the band. We have one more vacancy to fill — please see 4barsrest classified for full details!"

Stable foundation

He added: "We’re starting 2009 on a stable foundation which enables the conducting duo of Craig Roberts and Graham O’Connor to push the band forward. This is an exciting period in Cwmaman’s history and the band are hoping for a successful year in 2009."
