The Greenalls Band from St. Helens has been invited to attend the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Holland in July this year.
Seventh time
This will be the seventh invitation the band has accepted from the organisers, and will be the fourth consecutive visit to the contest.
At the last contest in 2005, the band won a Gold Medal in the Second Section. They will once again compete in the Second Section performing the set work ‘Psalms and Alleluias’ by Philip Wilby.
The band first performed at the WMC in 1970, and some of that band are still involved with the current band4BR

Despite not receiving the official invitation until last week, the band started fundraising for the contest as long ago as July last year, and have held many events since to help keep the cost of attending the contest as low as possible.
