New tubas at Surfers

Members at Surfers Paradise Brass celebrate the arrival of new instruments thanks to a successful grant application.

Peter Rhoades, Dylan Troyahn, Paul Scott

Members of the Surfers Paradise Brass Band celebrated the arrival of 2 new tubas purchased with funds the Band received from a Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant of $30000.

The tubas, costing approximately $15000 each, are the big ticket items that the Band could never afford without such a grant.

Grateful

The Band is very grateful to the Queensland Gambling Community Benefit Fund for its support.

These instruments will make a huge improvement to the sound of the Band and will also make available instruments for new players to the Band.

Looking good

As well, the members are proudly wearing their new polo shirts purchased recently with assistance from Councillor Susie Douglas of the Gold Coast City Council.

Ashley Gittins

The Band has a busy year ahead and has several concerts planned.

The first major concert will be on the 21st of March at the Nerang Bicentennial Hall and will feature the band in concert with the magnificent sounds and artistry of euphonium player, Ashley Gittins.

Ashley is the current Australian Champion of Champions.

The Concert will feature a wide variety of repertoire from classical transcriptions to popular music and movie themes.
