Blackburn and Darwen's magnificent start to 2009 continued with a winning performance by the band's quartet at the Scottish Ensemble Championships.
Battling bad weather
After first battling the bad weather, then a closely fought contest with some of Scotland's finest quartet players, the four Lancastrians scooped the top prize.

Wonderful remarks
Rob Johnson (cornet), Tariq Ahmed (horn), Rob Speakman (flugel) and Rachel King (euphonium) gave a rousing performance of Phillip Sparke's 'Divertimento' that drew wonderful remarks from James Gourlay in the box.
As well as a handsome trophy to adorn Blackburn's increasingly bulging cabinet, the quartet were awarded a brand new cornet, which will be donated to the Blackburn and Darwen Junior Band.
