New Crompton commission

Baritone star Carole Crompton will get to play a new commission for the instrument from composer Tom Davoren.

Davoren

Desford Colliery Band composer in residence, Tom Davoren, has recently completed his first baritone commission for Carole Crompton.

Tour de force

The piece entitled 'Baritonality' is ‘tour de force’ for the instrument and is hoped will provide essential original repertoire for baritone soloists.

Carole has been working with Tom for the past six months to develop the piece, which will be premiered at Morley Town next month with the Hepworth(Cookson Homes)Band.

Thrilled

Carole is thrilled with the piece and told 4BR: "I have really enjoyed working with Tom and feel that this piece will provide yet another important addition to the Baritone repertoire. The piece is a great example of contemporary writing, yet accessible to the listener and performer alike."
