A conductor’s workshop entitled, 'Living Performance' is to take place in Lucerne in Switzerland.

The Swiss Section of WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles) is holding the day long conductor’s workshop at the brand new culture centre of SÜDPOL at Kriens in Lucerne.
Focus
The workshop’s topic will be 'The Living Performance of Music' and will focus on themes of 'in between the lines' — such as the phrasing and articulation of music, mood changes, rubato, ostinato as well as the concept of 'Music as Speech'.
The workshop is adressed to conductors of Symphonic bands and brass bands of all levels.

Leading clinician
The day will be led by Isabelle Ruf-Weber, a conductor and teacher of international reputation. She lives in the central part of Switzerland and is the Musical Director of the German 'Landesblasorchester Baden-Württemberg' as well as the Swiss Symphonic Bands 'Feldmusik Neuenkirch' and 'Landwehr Fribourg'.
She is a frequent jury member at music festivals and clinician for workshops in Switzerland and Europe and has adjudicated at the European Brass Band Championships.
Finest ensembles
Two of Switzerland’s finest Wind Ensembles will be the seminar’s 'home orchestra' — The brass band Bürgermusik Luzern (directed by Ludwig Wicki) and the City of Lucerne Wind Symphony 'Blasorchester Stadtmusik Luzern' (directed by Franz Schaffner).
The presenter will be Oliver Waespi, the Swiss composer and member of WASBE-Switzerland’s Board.

The workshop is supported by the Swiss Brass Band Association and the Swiss Association for Wind Music and will take place on Saturday, February 7th from 9.00amk to 5.30pm at the new SÜDPOL Cultere Centre in Kriens-Luzern, with the subsequent General Meeting of WASBE-Switzerland.
