Denton celebration

2009 sees the 150th aniversary of the Denton Band — and they are going to make sure they celebrate it in style.

Denton Brass has announced the start of their 150th anniversary celebrations.

The original Denton Band was formed in 1859 by Thomas Baxendale, hat manufacturer and started life rehearsing in the owner's mill.

Brass band history

In 1900 the band created bras band history, when they were crowned the very first National Brass Band Champions winning the famous 1000 Guineas Trophy. It was reported that thyere was '...great rejoicing in Denton.'

Later Denton changed it’s name to Crown Point Brass, but in 1999 returned to its original name.
