The Stocksbridge Band has announced the appointment of Miles Davison as their new Musical Director.

Miles is no stranger to Stocksbridge having previously played Principal horn for them in addition to over 30 years of experience at the highest level of banding.

He has spent the last 10 years building his conducting skills alongside his playing at several bands, including Championship Section Hatfield Band, and has recently taken the decision to become a full time conductor.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are looking forward to working with Miles through 2009 and beyond, and Miles is already in full swing rehearsing the band for Butlins."

Stocksbridge have also announced the signings of Andrew and Lesley White, Julian Hollins, Russel Vernon and Susan Pickles.
