It has been announced that international tuba star and conductor James Gourlay will become the new Musical Director at Grimethorpe Colliery Band from 1st January.

Stunning line up

Gourlay's appointment sees him complete a stunning line up of conducting talent at the current English National Champions, with Allan Withington as the band's Principal Conductor and Phillip McCann as Associate Conductor.

Wealth of experience

Band Manager Terry Webster told 4BR: "The appointment completes our conducting team — one that we believe will bring increased success to the band from 2009 onwards. We are all excited at the prospect of working with Jim as he brings a wealth of experience with him."
