Wilby's Whit retirement

Dennis Wilby decides to call it a Whit Friday day.

Whit Friday

4BR has been informed that the vastly experienced Dennis Wilby has reluctantly decided that this year was to be his last year in the adjudicators caravan at the Greenacres Whit Friday Brass Band Contest.

3500 miles

Dennis has been associated with the contest since its inception in 2001 and during that time has clocked up over 3500 miles completing his yearly pilgrimage from Hailsham to Oldham.

This does leave us with the job of filling Dennis's position in the caravan for 2009 — it's a bit like replacing Fergie at Man UtdGreenacres Contest

Invaluable

Andy Clayton, Secretary at the contest told 4BR: "The Contest Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank Dennis for his invaluable experience and dedication which has certainly been influential in making Greenacres a successful contest. We wish both him and his wife, Margaret good health and happiness for the future."

Position to be filled

Andy added: "This does leave us with the job of filling Dennis's position in the caravan for 2009 — it's a bit like replacing Fergie at Man Utd, so we are now on the look out for a new adjudicator."

If anyone is interseted then they should contact Andy Clayton on 07801 351046.
