Bolsover District Council and Wilson Bowden Developments have announced the launch of a 'Brass in Concert' series of brass band concerts within the Bolsover District.

As part of the programme of community arts development work which was awarded £10,000 through an 'Arts and Business' funding scheme, Bolsover District are to host a series of concerts over the forthcoming year.

The event is aimed at raising the profile of the Bolsover Brass Band Entertainment Contest and providing entertainment in Bolsover’s rural communities.

The invited bands include, Derwent Brass, Ratby Co-operative, Hepworth Cookson Homes, Strata Brass and Worsbrough Brass.

Without their support, the Bolsover Brass Band Entertainment Contest would not have been able to expand. The Management of WBD were so impressed with the 2008 contest that they have committed to support the 2009 contest."

The series will begin with Derwent Brass at the Post Mill Centre, South Normanton on Saturday 14th February.
