NZ National Band recording

The National Band of New Zealand assembled in Auckland, today.

The National Band of New Zealand under Musical Director, Howard Taylor assembled in Auckland today, to record a CD over the course of the weekend.

This will be the first studio produced disc by a National Band of New Zealand in a number of years.

Repertoire

Items to be recorded include Prelude for Kerkrade commissioned from Kenneth Young for the 2005 National Band’s performance at Kerkrade in that year, Epiphany commissioned from Dwayne Bloomfield for the 2007 National Band, Kiwi Keeper commissioned from William Broughton for the 2007 National Band, Trigger Happy commissioned recently from Gareth Farr, Clouds a Trombone solo for David Bremner, commissioned from Anthony Ritchie in 2005 and Peter Maunders arrangement of Deep Harmony.

Replacements

The band is mostly the band selected to tour New Zealand in 2007 with four replacements for players who are unavailable for that weekend.

Release Date

The CD will be available for release in mid 2009.

Funding

The players are travelling and accommodating themselves at their own expense to record this CD which has been underwritten by a group of nine passionate National Band supporters.

Bilton Silver Rugby Band

November 22 • Bilton Silver (Rugby) requires a cornet player to join our Championship Section band (Position negotiable). Under MD Brad Turnbull we have a varied programme of events. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Friday at 7-45pm in our own purpose built bandroom.


Besses o'th' Barn Band

November 21 • Under the direction of David W Ashworth, we are making every effort to complete the rebuild of this very famous brass band. We require one kit and one tuned percussionists plus one Back Row Cornet to complete our line up for the North West Area Contest.
