Windcorp happy despite title loss

The Windcorp Band are still a ahppyu bunch it seems, despite them losing their Swedish title recently.

Windcorp Brass Band may not have managed to defend their title at the recent Swedish Championships, held in Värnamo, but it seems, they remain a very happy and positive bunch of players.

The championships were held overg two days, where the set test piece 'Swedish Festival Music' by Kenneth Downie was played on Friday night and the own choice items played on Saturday afternoon.

Happy return

Resident conductor and chairman Andreas Kratz told 4BR: "We were happy with our preparations before the contest and did exactly what we intended to do during our performances.

"We went for a slightly restrained interpretation of the set test piece, which unfortunately didn't get the adjudicators' appreciation all the way through. In combination with the number one draw, we more or less lost the battle on the first day."

In the end there was a one point margin overall that separated the first two bands come the announcement of the overall results.

Marshall guest

Band Secretary, Henrik Glänneskog told 4BR: "Windcorp Brass Band will soon start the rehearsals for its annual St Lucia concert.

This year's invited soloist is Richard Marshall who made a fantastic appearance with the Black Dyke Band at the Gala Concert during the Swedish Championships. Playing together with such an extaordinary musician will certainly be a thrill for all members in the band and a dignified end of an exciting season."
