A fine turn out of bands at Leicester as Ratby take the top honours

The Ratby Cooperative Band took top honours in two sections on the weekend at the Leicestershire Brass Band Association contest held in Loughborough.

Stiff opposition

The Ratby Cooperative Senior Band and their MD Mike Fowles fought off stiff competition in the Open Section with Jaguar Coventry and Newstead Brass taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively, whilst in the Unregistered Section, Ratby Juniors also took home first prize under the watchful eye of their talented young Musical Director Becky Moss.

New venues

The new venues of Garendon High and Burleigh Community College appeared to be favourable to performers and supporters alike. Lesley Bentley and the LBBA committee would like to thank all volunteers and stewards that helped to event to run so smoothly.

April 3 • We have vacancies for a trombone player and a bass player. Cleethorpes Band rehearse near the seafront on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Placed 3rd in the NOE 4th section. Other players are always welcome as we may be able to switch positions around
