Kippax get the ball rolling

Kippax Youth Training Group off to a great start.

Saturday the 15th of November saw the first meeting of the Kippax Band Youth Training Group.

Aim

The group is aimed at youngsters wishing to learn or develop brass playing skills and is seenas an important avenue in securing the long term future of the Kippax Band as well as providing an excellent service for the local community.

The group has been developed by a sub committee committee and will be facilitated by qualified and experienced members of the senior band.

We hope that this initiative will help us find the future stars of the Kippax Band, and help secure the long term future of one of the oldest bands in the countryKippax Band

The group has the full support of the band’s chairman Colin Moss and also the band’s MD David Horn.

Colin told 4BR: "We hope that this initiative will help us find the future stars of the Kippax Band, and help secure the long term future of one of the oldest bands in the country."

Importance

David added: "We place great importance in the value of youth development in the Kippax band and we already have two very promising young cornet players in the band. We hope this new venture will unearth new talent on all manner of different instruments for the future."

14 youngsters attended the first session and the trainers were extremely pleased with the level of skill displayed by the children and also their level of enthusiasm and motivation.

March 8 • GUS lead the prizes winners in Bedworth with section victories to Foss Dyke, Ibstock Brick Brass and Syston.


Torquay

Results: 2025 West of England Regional Championships

March 8 • Aldbourne lead the way in Torquay with section titles going to Roche Brass, Porthleven, Bratton Silver and Illogan Sparnon Silver.

March 8 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet every other monday morning(nxt one this monday) and we are looking for CORNET PLAYERS to join us.. you do not need to change your affiliation as we just offer free fun music making with cake and coffee thrown in.


Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band

March 8 • Wakefield Metropolitan are looking for Bass player and percussionist to help the band move forward after a promising area performance


Ilkeston Brass

March 7 • Ilkeston Brass is a friendly 4th section band based in the SE of Derbyshire. We are looking for cornet players to continue our long heritage of brass banding. Cornet seat negotiable!
