The Fairey Band have recently been playing their brand of Acid Brass to a wider audience, after performing for an international audience of fans in front of the famous I M Pei glass pyramid at the Louvre in Paris.
Voodoo Ray
Conducted by Mike Eccles, the band performed a 60 minute 'Acid' set in the courtyard of the famous museum, featuring soloists Lucy Murphy in ‘Voodoo Ray’ and Neil Hewson in a new arrangement of KLF’s ‘What Time is Love’.
Autographs
After signing autographs and selling out of CD’s, the band were given a cocktail reception and then a VIP tour of the Louvre were they got chance to view famous exhibits such as the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo.
This has been a really nice end to what has been quite a busy Acid season this year. We’ve performed on the main stages at Beatherder, Innocence and Latitude Festivals and the Festival in Isle of Wight, following Amy Winehouse on Mike Eccles
Impressed
Bass trombonist Dr. John Paul Warder was particularly impressed: "Seeing the Mona Lisa was great. Maybe in the future the experience will be enhanced with some Acid Brass resonating inside the Louvre itself!"
Invite
The band was invited to perform by Turner Prize award winning artist Jeremy Deller, the creator of ‘Acid Brass’. The performance, heard by approximately 2000 people, formed part of Jeremy’s exhibition, created especially for the museum.
Conductor Mike Eccles told 4BR: "This has been a really nice end to what has been quite a busy Acid season this year. We’ve performed on the main stages at Beatherder, Innocence and Latitude Festivals and the Festival in Isle of Wight, following Amy Winehouse on!"
