The Boobs & Brass girls, have once again raised a fantastic amount of money for their great cancer charity, with a little help from the lads of the Brighouse & Rastrick Band.
Generous
Maggie Betts told 4BR: "On behalf of everyone associated with Boobs & Brass we would like to sincerely thank Brighouse & Rastrick, their officers and helpers, plus everyone who attended the concert at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday night for giving us such a warm and generous welcome."
For us, this was an experience that none of us could ever have imagined and certainly one that none of us will ever forgetMaggie Betts
Cuddling up
Maggie and her girls made the trip to the banding heartland and won over the packed audience with a display of playing that was every bit as impressive as their pink uniforms and dedication to their charitable cause. They all enjoyed cuddling up to the lads from Brighouse too!
"For us, this was an experience that none of us could ever have imagined and certainly one that none of us will ever forget," Maggie added.
What a sight
"Just the sight of forty ladies clad in very pink jackets intermingled with the purple and gold of B&R on that tremendous stage took your breath away, and we feel very proud of how the girls rose to the occasion — they did us proud. We may not be the best band to have performed at this long standing event but certainly the most colourful."
Teddy bears
The previous Saturday, the girls performed in Kettering at the brand new Lighthouse Theatre where an entertaining evenijng involved Pipers from Alyth, Perthshire, a professional tap dancer in a very skimpy costume (pink of course) — real live teddy bears and `Can Can` girls from the Limelight Theatre School.
Target
Together, these two concerts raised the amazing amount of £7,000 for charity and all the proceeds from Huddersfield and half the amount from Kettering will shortly be handed over to Breast Cancer Campaign and the Ophthalmic Department at Kettering General Hospital.
This brings the total of the girls fundraising so far to over £27,000 and their initial target was to try to achieve £25,000 by the end of 2008.
