Hinckley steps in at Tullis

The experienced John Hinckley takes over the reins at Tullis Russell Mills.

The Tullis Russell Mills Band has announced the appointment of John Hinckley as Professional Conductor.

Main task

John’s main task is to prepare the band for the 2009 Regional Contest in March in Dundee.

John has been working with the band over the last month and has agreed a schedule that will see him conduct them at Pontins this weekend. He will also take the band to the Scottish Challenge Shield in Perth in November.

Challenges

John told 4BR: "This will be the first time I have worked with a lower section band but I am looking forward to the different challenges it will bring. Getting the chance to work with the band on and off stage over the next few months will allow me to prepare the band for 2009 in a very structured manner."

Firm commitment

The bands chairperson Jayne Jones added: "The appointment of John is a firm commitment by the management committee at Tullis to move the band forward. It is hoped with the appointment of John and the current winter concert series recently announced that the band can attract a few more player who want to be part of a successful concert and contesting band."

Charity bash

Meanwhile the band will play in concert with the renowned East Fife Male Voice Choir at a charity concert in Pathhead Parish Church in Kirkcaldy on the 7th November to help raise cash for the local Maggies Centre which is located in the town.
