Philip Watson, the Development Officer of the British Federation of Brass Bands (BFBB) has once again been trying to push brass bands into the wider world of music and art and recently attended a conference entitled Great Art for Everyone.
Aims and aspirations
The event outlined aims and aspirations of the Arts Council England (ACE) for the next three to 10 years in which it is hoped to develop the concept that art is for everyone.
ACE’s four main development priorities are digital technology, visual arts provision, children and young people and the 2012 Cultural Olympiad and the work of brass bands certainly falls within all these categories.
Further informative debates were continued throughout the day with much for BFBB to consider and at a later date tabled papers will be presented regarding broadcasting, 21st Century digital technology and reaching new audiencesPhilip Watson
