In a recent meeting at the Sheffield Teaching Hospital, the British Federation of Brass Bands’ development officer, Philip Watson was invited to join a strategy workshop entitled 'Arts in Health' with a view to implementing a scheme whereby brass bands could play their part in the therapy and rehabilitation of patients.

With music proven to be a great comfort, inspiration and help to patients across the world, it would be another positive move for brass bands to be involved with such a scheme in hospitals.

Revealing what was discussed at the meeting, Philip Watson told 4BR: "The items discussed at the meeting included bringing banding activities into hospitals, building relationships with hospital staff, arts volunteering in general, branding, promotion and communication of Arts in Health and giving support for Arts in Health."
