In his letter to the band, Andrew has expressed a wish to have a change in lifestyle without the constant performance pressures of leading a top brass band.

Huge loss

Andrew has already been approached by several bands to perform as a guest soloist, and is looking forward to working with more bands in the near future. Andrew’s departure is a huge loss to Dalewool Brass – his commitment, loyalty and professionalism will be sadly missed.

Success

Andrew has been the Principal Cornet of Dalewool Brass for the past 12 years, leading the band to four New Zealand and three Australian Championship titles. During this time Andrew has also been chosen as the Principal Cornet of the New Zealand National Band. Earlier this year Andrew was runner-up in the NZ Championship Cornet solo title.

Dalewool rebuilds

With the departure of conductor Nigel Weeks imminent, Dalewool Auckland Brass is currently going through a re-building period. They are however still extremely busy with their subscription concert series and are looking forward to the 2009 NZ National Championships in April next year.
