Schreiber and Keilwerth, the principal sponsor of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, is to host clinics at the Lower Section Finals in Harrogate this weekend, led by its top endorsees David Childs and Owen Farr.

David and Owen will be on hand on the Sunday (28th) to give instrumentalists a spot of one-to-one help with their playing.

Take advantage

Those interested in taking advantage of this expert help should visit the York exhibition in the Foyer of Harrogate International Centre, where representatives of the Company will steward players to the clinics between 11.00am – 1.00pm and 3.30 – 5.30pm.

The clinics will commence with York’s on-line Tips from the Top service for bands in sections 1 – 4, during the two weeks leading up to the Lower Section Finals.

Top tips

York artists — David Childs, Owen Farr, Richard Marshall and David Thornton — will publish their playing tips twice a week on-line, and York hopes that its new service will produce an enhanced contesting experience for players and conductors alike.

Rewarding experience

David Childs told 4BR: "Combined, these little tips may just help players to achieve a slightly higher level of performance. If you are as prepared as you can be, there is no reason why going out onto the contest platform to make music with fellow musicians should not be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all concerned."

York is also sponsoring four recitals at the end of each of the four sectional competitions, before the awards ceremonies.

On the Sunday, Owen Farr will also dazzle the audience with a short recital after Section 1 and David Childs will give a recital after Section 2. On Saturday Angelo Bearpark, will give a recital after Section 4 and the British Army Band will entertain the audience after Section 3.

Great opportunity

York heralds the 'Finals' as the most famous and glamorous brass band contest in the world.

Andreas Gafke, Sales and Marketing Director of York told 4BR: "The 'National' is a great opportunity to further enhance York's close connection with the British brass band scene. We would also like to wish all participating bands a successful preparation for the 'Finals' and we look forward to meeting them at their respective 'Final' events."
