Nigel Weeks, Musical Director of Dalewool Auckland Brass has decided not to renew his contract with Dalewool Auckland Brass, which expires at the end of 2008.

Plans

Nigel is looking forward to working as a freelance conductor and adjudicator in 2009 and has recently been appointed as the Director of the Howick School of Music. Any bands or orchestras that wish to draw upon Nigel’s wealth of experience and expertise in 2009 or beyond can contact him via email wx@macleans.school.nz

Unparalleled success

Nigel arrived in New Zealand in 1994 after a very successful period conducting Tredegar Town Band. 14 years later, he has achieved unparalleled success winning five New Zealand and three Australian titles.

Nigel was also the Musical Director of the NZ National Youth Brass Band from 1998-2002.

In 2005, he returned to the United Kingdom where he completed his Masters in Conducting at Salford University and conducted many top bands including YBS, Brighouse and Rastrick, Cory, Desford and Mount Charles.

We look forward to working with Nigel as a Professional Conductor at some stage in the future, and wish him all the best for his new challenges.Dalewool Auckland Brass

Dalewool Auckland Brass knows that this is not the end of its association with Nigel and although the band will miss his expertise on a weekly basis, a spokesperson for the band said, "We look forward to working with Nigel as a Professional Conductor at some stage in the future, and wish him all the best for his new challenges."

Celebration

Nigel’s last official engagement with the band as Musical Director is “A Celebration of Christmas”, with special guests the Graduate Choir at 7.00pm, Saturday 29 November at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell.
