The Wilsden Band recently had to dodge the showers of heavy rain to put on their concert at Happy Mount Park, Morecambe.
Wet West Riding
Considering the rather wet patch of weather, last Sunday proved to be a normal rainy West Riding day, at least in the early morning, pre departure time.
However, the band traveled in style, and band members, family and friends duly boarded a luxury coach, along with all the usual 'paraphernalia' that accompanies a brass band on an away job.
We all sat down to a super fish and chip meal in a local restaurant before coming home to sunny Wilsden, West Yorkshire. It was a great day of music making, despite the weatherColin Holt
Patch of blue sky
With the coach's windscreen wipers on double speed, it didn't bode well, but on arrival in Morecambe things looked good — blue sky and sun.
Thankfully, it turned out a beautiful afternoon and a very appreciative audience ("best band we've had this year, lad" — said with a slight Yorkshire accent) enjoyed a diverse programme of well played music.
Fish and chips
Colin Holt told 4BR: "I must give a big thank you to all players and supporters with us that day, including driver John. We all sat down to a super fish and chip meal in a local restaurant before coming home to sunny Wilsden, West Yorkshire. It was a great day of music making, despite the weather!"
