The Heyl Band recently pulled off a great winning performance at the Exmouth Contest.

Great sound

Adjudicator Denis Wilby commented on the bands "great sound", as well as the "well balanced programme, played by a fine band, and bravo to the soloist band and MD for some very fine playing indeed".

Heyl are a Third Section band, and on the day they beat some very good 2nd and 1st section bands.

MD, Derek Johnston told 4BR: "The band pride themselves on their entertaining programmes and we worked very hard on this one. The band are now looking forward to Torquay Contest as this will be the last performance in the Third Section, as next year we have been promoted to the Second Section."
