The 2008 Penrith Eisteddfod was held yesterday at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith NSW.
Warringah Concert Brass (John Saunders) won the A grade section with 95 points holding out Holroyd City Band (Mark Strykowski) on 92 points, and current NSW Champions, St Marys Band Club (Paul Terracini) with 91 points.
Seen by many bands as a good opportunity for match practise in the lead up to next weekends state titles, Warringah Concert Brass defended their title from last years playing Gilbert Vinter's "Spectrum", the test piece for the upcoming NSW championships.
Warringah has developed a reputation as entertainers by winning their past six entertainment competitions.
Following a successful Nationals campaign this year and the win at Penrith, Warringah has shown they are more than ready to take on the best at the upcoming NSW State Championships.
