After ten years of performing at the National Festival of Music for Youth, Youth Brass 2000 have been invited to take part in the School Proms to be held at the Royal Albert Hall in November.
Enjoyable
Youth Brass 2000 have performed at the National Festival of Music for Youth a total of 10 times, receiving 'Highly Commended' awards on 5 separate occasions for their enjoyable and innovative programming and performances.
Big band
This year, the band scooped the top accolade of ‘Outstanding Performance’ as they performed a programme of big band style music under their musical director, Peter Collins.
We are absolutely over the moon. It is a dream for any musician to perform at the Royal Albert Hall and I am just so proud of all the band as they will get this once in a lifetime opportunityChairman Don Collins
Testimony
"We knew that we had played well, and the judging panel all seemed to really enjoy our programme this year," said Peter, "The 'Outstanding Performance' award is really a testimony to all of the hard work that the band put in over the months leading up to the festival."
However, receiving the award is not a pre-requisite for an invitation to play at the Royal Albert Hall, and members of the band have been waiting tentatively for the invitations to be sent out.
Over the moon
On finally hearing the news that the band had been invited to perform, Don Collins the band’s Chairman commented to 4BR: "We are absolutely over the moon. It is a dream for any musician to perform at the Royal Albert Hall and I am just so proud of all the band as they will get this once in a lifetime opportunity."
