The only brass band contest to be televised live in the UK will take place this weekend when bands from the Principality take part in the 2008 Welsh National Eisteddfod.
Huge crowds
The event takes place on Pontcanna Fields in the centre of Cardiff from the 2nd – 9th August with huge crowds expected to attend the mix of traditional and cutting edge cultural events and competitions.
The brass band contests this year take place from the ‘Maes’ on Saturday and Sunday (2nd/3rd) with televised coverage on the Welsh S4C Channel, and Sky Channel 104 (in Wales) and 134 (outside Wales).

Kick off
The Fourth Section kicks things off at 10.00am on Saturday, followed by the Third Section at 11.50am and Second Section at 14.10pm.
The combined Championship and First Section takes place on Sunday at midday.
All contests are short entertainment format.
