4BR has been informed of the death of a former stalwart and treasurer of the Rothwell Tempeance Band, Bob Carrington.

Bob joined the band as a boy in 1941 alongside Gordon Roberts, the present conductor's father. He stayed with the band for many years progressing to play bass and was still an active member in 1981 when he wrote a Centenary Chronicle covering the band's first 100 years.
At the centenary celebrations he was presented with an inscribed clock in recognition of 40 years service to the bandRothwell Temperance Band
Recognition
A spokesperson told 4BR: "At the centenary celebrations he was presented with an inscribed clock in recognition of 40 years service to the band.
"He retired from active playing in the early eighties but still continued on as treasurer for some years."
