Mereside Brass, who are based in the village of Plumley in mid Cheshire will set off on their very first tour early Saturday morning.

The band were planning to go to Malta last year but due to the cancellation of the festival decided instead to go down the Rhine this year.

The band has only been established 5 years but boasts full rehearsals every week and last September started a training band.

Their Musical Director Mike Phenton told 4BR: "This tour will not only bring the band together musically but strengthen friendships."

The players travel from all over Cheshire and some from Lancashire.
