Ohio Band returns from successful tour

The Ohio Brass Band returns from successful trip to the UK that included 4 performances in the Durham Area.

There was quite a buzz amongst Ohio Brass Band (OBB) members as they returned from their recent UK tour. The band had the opportunity to open for Brighouse and Rastrick at the Gala theatre in Durham and perform a joint concert with Fishburn band.

OBB Travel coordinator, Patrick Campbell said, “It became quickly obvious there is an abundance of very skilled, intense and dedicated brass players who work very hard. Even as good as everyone seems to be, there is always time to develop wonderful friendships within this musical family. “

“There hospitality toward our American band members was very so genuine and sincere." Patrick Campbell, OBB travel coordinator

The band not only built friendships with other band members, but also the community of Bowburn. OBB performed an evening concert in Bowburn and then marched the Bowburn banner into Durham for the Miner’s Gala.

Campbell praised the hospitality, “There hospitality toward our American band members was very so genuine and sincere. We received warm welcomes wherever we traveled.“

Ohio Band members also appreciated the opportunity to participate in an event like the Miner’s Gala which is so rich in English Heritage.

As a result of this tour, the band has decided continue to push themselves by accepting an invitation to compete at this year’s U.S. Open Brass Band Championships in St. Charles, IL on November 8th.
