Thoresby look for old players

60 years after it all started on the back of a colliery bus, Thoresby are set to celebrate.

Thoresby

In 1948 two miners from Thoresby Colliery were travelling to work and decided that their local colliery needed a band.

They recruited a few more miners with the same idea and each one donated a pound, and the band took its first steps having bought some old instruments from the old Welbeck Colliery Band.
