Dodworth Colliery MW Brass Band has announced that they have launched their very own training band.
Encouragement
The first meeting took place on Tuesday 8th July before the main band rehearsal and was attended by around eight eager youngsters who will hopefully feed the main band in the coming years. Several of the main band's players sat in and played along to give encouragement.
Dodworth players and committee had come to the conclusion that it was about time they looked to the future of the band and build on the success from the Senior band.

Rise
Dodworth's rise through the ranks from Fourth to Second Section in a short time has been a good example of how hard work and committment can, if focused, reap rewards.
The band notably have had two National Final appearances along their route back up the ranks, one of which saw them taking the National Championship title in the Fourth Section in 2006, as well as the Tameside Open and Wilkinson titles.
Impetus
The impetus towards the setting up of the training band was the return of solo horn player Bob Woffinden. Bob had been persuaded to come back by Dodworth's MD Eliot Darwin.
Both Bob and Eliot share in the belief that the band need to nurture the next generation of players and the committee and players took little persuading that Dodworth's future will rely on encouraging youngsters.
